Maplewood Family Parade

On August 27, The Maplewood hosted a family parade with picnic lunches to go. “The event was incredible!” says Greg Chambery, Administrator. “Webster First Responders led the parade in a firetruck and ambulance, complete with sirens and lights flashing. Families went all out decorating cars, with many including photos and signs honoring loved ones and Maplewood staff. Residents faces lit up as they spotted their families and waved flags at the passing vehicles.”

The idea came from Dining Director, Michael Fall, who noticed resident’s disappointment with several events being cancelled this year. Attending the annual Webster Firemen’s Parade has been a favorite tradition of Maplewood residents for many years. In addition, Maplewood usually hosts several special dining events for residents and families over the summer. Since these festivities couldn’t take place this year, Michael came together with other departments to create a new Maplewood event featuring a parade of family vehicles and take out meals for families to enjoy at home. Residents enjoyed a carnival-themed lunch following the parade.

Special thanks to all of the families and friends who participated and brought much needed joy to everyone at Maplewood.
