Visitation Policy and Procedure

The Maplewood’s goal is to welcome resident visitors as often as possible. This policy reflects the guidance issued on March 17, 2023 from the NY State Department of Health regarding visitation in nursing homes.

Entering the Building, Screening and Visitation Hours:

  • Visitation is available 7 days a week. Maplewood requests that visits occur between 9am and 7pm.
  • Any visitor who has had close contact with someone with COVID-19 or is exhibiting signs and symptoms that resemble COVID-19 should avoid visiting The Maplewood for 10 days.
  • Maplewood requests (but does not require) that all visitors be vaccinated against COVID-19.
  • All visitors are required to sign in at the entrance and provide required screening information about recent exposure to COVID-19 as well as their contact information.

Indoor Visiting:

  • Based on CDC guidelines, Maplewood will post a notice at each entrance to alert visitors if conditions allow for unmasking or if masks are currently required. Look for the color-coded signs (RED = Masking Required; GREEN = Masks are Optional)
  • When masking is required, all visitors must wear face coverings over the nose and mouth at all times while inside the Maplewood, including residents rooms. Visitors must wear a well-fitting non-surgical mask or mask of higher quality. Appropriate masks are available to Maplewood visitors, free of charge.
  • Hand hygiene must be followed before each visit.

*If the situation in the local community or at Maplewood changes, we may have to add some restrictions to meet CDC requirements. We will alert visitors should this occur.
