Aging Boomers and Expectations for Care

Maturitus Journal, a widely read publication in the United Kingdom, recently published an article on aging baby boomers. The piece explored what people in their late 60s expected when it came to their future care needs. The researchers chose this group because the participants were right on the cusp of moving from care giver to care receiver. An interesting pattern emerged as the data came together—one that challenges our current model of senior care.

Mary Jane Cooks Blueberry Cobbler

Much to our delight, our volunteer, Mary Jane, came in today for her monthly series "Cooking wtih Mary Jane". As usual, her dish featured a fresh local ingredient: blueberries that she picked herself at a local farm! She cooked up a blueberry cobbler that was so delicious that we thought we should share the recipe.

Long Term Care Planning - An Administrator’s Perspective

It was March of 1984 when the envelope arrived in the mail from the New York State Department of Health. I stared at it for five minutes before opening it to find the results of my Administrators exam. Upon opening it, I learned that I had become the latest person to be licensed as a nursing home administrator in the State of New York.
