Getting to know Gordy the Barber

Ask our barber Gordon “Gordy” Wright about his favorite part of providing haircuts for residents at The Maplewood. “My favorite part is the stories. Some of these guys are pretty interesting! We’ve got fighter pilots, builders, Great Lakes shipping captains…”

“Every day I try to make each person who walks through the door feel special.”

They say time flies when you’re having fun. Every day I get to greet each person who walks through the door or calls on the phone. And every day I try to make each person feel special.

If someone comes to me with a problem, I’m happy to help or to find someone who can. Recently I mailed a package at the Post Office for a resident to make sure it got to her relative in time for a special birthday.

Not too many people can say they love coming to work, but I can. I’m proud of The Maplewood, and I’m glad I get to show it off to all our visitors.
